A fully beaded vintage Japanese evening bag in pearlescent white and soft pink, patterned with Bishamonten Kikkō hexagons. Associated with Bishamonten, one of Japan’s Seven Gods of Fortune, this one of a kind vintage purse brings a little lucky sparkle to special occasions.

  • Exterior: Fully beaded with pearlescent white and pink beads in Bishamonten Kikkō hexagon pattern

What does the hexagon pattern on this piece mean?

Kikkou (亀甲)

The hexagon pattern represents longevity, good fortune and protection.

Inspired by the shell of the tortoise, one of Japan's most sacred animals and believed to live ten thousand years.

An ancient motif, kikkou can also be found on Samurai armour designs.
