A one of a kind kimono silk clutch bag in metallic gold, woven with bold red Kikkō hexagons, a tortoise shell pattern associated with good fortune. Found in Osaka, Japan, and still with its original mirror, this vintage Japanese evening purse brings a lucky flash of colour to special occasions.

Kikkou (亀甲)

The hexagon pattern represents longevity, good fortune and protection.

Inspired by the shell of the tortoise, one of Japan's most sacred animals and believed to live ten thousand years.

An ancient motif, kikkou can also be found on Samurai armour designs.

Matsukawabishi (松皮菱)
