A rare vintage Japanese silk clutch bag, sourced from Japan and woven in luminous silver-white kimono silk with a sharp orange accent. Decorated with a pine bark diamond pattern, this one of a kind vintage purse is made for weddings, dinners and parties, for those who like their accessories elegant, unusual and impossible to copy.

What does the diamond pattern on this piece mean?

Matsukawabishi (松皮菱)

The diamond pattern represents longevity, resilience and enduring strength.

Formed from a repeating grid of nested diamond shapes, the pattern echoes the rugged, layered bark of the pine, one of Japan's most auspicious trees, evergreen through every season.

Hishi (a diamond or rhombus shape) has been woven into Japanese silks for centuries, often appearing on formal and ceremonial garments as a symbol of strength and long life.
