Cut from a vintage Japanese obi woven in the era of Hollywood Regency style, this vintage Japanese obi cushion carries the real glamour of the period rather than an imitation of it. Lustrous butterscotch silk and bold golden bamboo bands create a look of warmth, confidence and polished luxury. A statement piece with genuine vintage presence. Two available. The cushion shown in the main image will be sent first; the second features the original woven fold line of the obi as a unique trace of its previous life. Finished with the original butterscotch silk reverse from the obi.

The fukuro obi (袋帯, "bag sash") is the most widely worn of the formal obi, a long elegant sash woven with intricate patterns, tied at the back in the distinctive taiko knot (named for its drum-like shape) that is the hallmark of Japanese formal dress.

This piece is made from a fukuro obi, its silk carrying the beauty of a craft tradition refined over centuries.
